- S: GENESIS is the book of beginnings.
B: Each person of the Godhead reveals his personality in a portion of scripture. GENESIS is the Book of the Father. The rest of the OT is the Book of the Son, and the New Testament is the Book of the Holy Spirit. [1]
- S: It records not only the beginning of the heavens and the earth, and of plant, animal, and human life, but also of all human institutions and relationships.
B: It begins with an invisible aleph א which reveals God's nature before the beginning. [2]
- S: Typically, it speaks of the new birth, the new creation, where all was chaos and ruin.
B: It speaks of God, who no man has seen nor heard [3], working perfectly in his creation like a stream pushing the fish or the wind pushing the birds to reveal himself to man as the one who accomplishes his will invisibly and silently. [4]

B: Explained in the story of the fall is the problem of man's ignorance of God, leaving him in an animalistic instinctive condition where he chooses good an evil for himself, usurping God's position, and making himself an enemy of God. [16] [7] The promise of the divine solution is given in the first word [17], and details expounded on every page. [18]
- S: Of the eight great covenants which condition human life and the divine redemption, four, the Edenic, Adamic, Noahic, and Abrahamic Covenants are in this book; and these are the fundamental covenants to which the other four, the Mosaic, Palestinian, Davidic, and New Covenants, are related chiefly as adding detail or development.

B: Understanding the mysteries hidden in Genesis requires an intimate knowledge of the Christ and the cross, for they all speak of him. [22] Jesus said the keys to teaching the scripture were the hidden pictures of the cross. [23]
- S: The inspiration of Genesis and it character as a divine revelation are authenticated by the testimony of Christ ( Matthew 19:4-6 ; 24:37-39 ; Mark 10:4-9 ; Luke 11:49-51 ; Luke 17:26-29 Luke 17:32 ; John 1:5 ; 7:21-23 ; John 8:44 John 8:56 ).
B: The Spirit who gave the human authors inspiration to write details of a future event that they did not understand themselves, is the same Spirit who promises to guide us in interpretation of those scriptures [24] so that we may "know, believe, and understand" that God alone is God [25], the creator of heaven and earth who has made himself known through the words, works, life, death, resurrection and indwelling Spirit. - From the call of Abram to the death of Joseph ( 11:10-32:26 ).
- The events recorded in Genesis cover a period of 2,315 years (Ussher).
B: Genesis
- In the first layer of revelation, Genesis is composed of a table of contents to the whole Bible (chapter 1) and of six divisions, two which were written by the Father.
- In the second layer of revelation, Genesis has has several vignettes of Christ beginning with a desolation,and continuing with the cross, a resurrection and fruitfulness. Within each are multiple layers each having additional vignettes.

- Gen 2:6-5:32 Adam, Cain, Abel, Seth share the part as different actors in a play playing the same character at different stages of life. (Three Fathers detached from the land)

- Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Three Fathers of the land)
- Jacob - Jacob as Christ
- Joseph - As the Son who was King of kings.
