The genre of the Hebrew canon is that of prophetic riddle in two or four layers. When we refer to two layers, we make reference to the literal and spiritual layers. When we make reference to four layers, we acknowledge that the spiritual layer is further expressed in three voices.
The church has a faint memory of these voices within scripture.
The Quadriga
The Catholic church's understanding of the Quadriga [1] is just a memory of the method the apostle's used to interpret the Bible. You will not find many answers to the prophetic riddles in Catholic sources since they have forgotten the rules and methods of solving them.

What is prophetic riddle?
The word for riddle חידה (chidah) means "an understanding of life through hearing the word"
How do we find riddles?
We turn over the literal (earth) with the sacrifice/cross (heifer).
